.

Curiosity and an incentive for experiment direct Ulrike’s artistic development. Old narrative traditions, archetypical figures and the associations which are inherent to them form the base of her work. Her objects cause these figures to relate, not only to each other but also to contemporary art, current social conditions and the world as a whole. Executed in a wide variety of materials and techniques, Rehm’s work is never ponderous. Far from it, her work is characterized by humor, curiosity and an urge to experiment. It is an invitation to view the world with mildness and reconcile ourselves with its shortcomings.

Ulrike Rehm works and lives in Amsterdam.
